Homestay is a great way for you to get to know the local way of life as you stay with families in their own homes. You eat the same food as them and then bathe and sleep in rooms the same as the rest of the household.
On Koh Yao Noi there are twenty families that have joined the Homestay project. The way it works is that you contact the co-ordinator and he will then assign you a family. You don’t get to choose.
The cost of this program is 3,000 Baht per person for two nights and three days. This includes six meals and various activities that include boat ride, fishing, sightseeing by songtaew around island and swimming.
For more information or to book you can contact Bao on 086-942799 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org. He speaks good English. When you arrive on the island he will arrange for someone to pick you up at the pier and take you to meet your host family.
It is unlikely that your host families will speak English. But they should know enough for you to get by. Anyway, that’s all part of the charm in staying at a Homestay. If anyone does this, then please let me know in the comments below.
