Sons of God
Dear Grace Family and Friends,
One week from Monday, we hold our new little girl in our arms. On that day, Abigail Pinglan Spitler joins her forever family! WOW! Few things leave me speechless but that is definitely one of them. I see a beautiful illustration of God heart for adoption in 2 Samuel 9. There we see the King of Israel, David, reaching to the slums of the city to adopt the grandson of his slain enemy. The young man, Mephibosheth, was lame in both feet, poor and dirty. There was little about him to attract anyone’s attention. Was King David’s mercy and grace so great that he would adopt a slum-dwelling dirty young man with no means of ever earning his own way?
YES! David’s adoption of Mephibosheth is a royal picture of God’s adoption of us. We too have no means of earning our own way with God. Like Mephibosheth, we would live in spiritual slums if left to our selves. God steps in with his unending mercy and incomprehensible grace and says, “I have redeemed you, I have called you by name and YOU ARE MINE!” From the spiritual slums to the spiritual palace. We have a forever family with Christ. Rejoice!
We found out on Monday of this week that Abby was moved about a month ago from her foster home to the orphanage in LePing “to get her ready for adoption.” Our hearts are grieving for our little one. Soon, very soon, she can leave the orphanage and join her forever family. She gets a family, we get her! We all have each other in Christ forever.
Astounded by Grace,
Harrison & Sandy
