If you’re planning a holiday to Africa then why not incorporate a few days in Zambia into your trip? This beautiful country will not disappoint especially as it’s home to one of the most beautiful cities in the African continent: Livingstone. Find out more about this dreamy destination in Zambia here.

Visit Victoria Falls

Livingston is synonymous with Victoria Falls, one of the best water falls in the world. Whilst it may not be as famous as Niagara Falls, it’s roughly twice the height and about one and a half times wider; pretty impressive, right?

This remarkable spectacle is a must-see. The locals refer to Victoria Falls as Mosi-oa-Tunya which translates as ‘The Smoke That Thunders’ so, as you can imagine, this mighty waterfall is truly awe-inspiring.  Be sure to visit Victoria Falls whilst in Livingstone and discover first-hand just how breathtakingly majestic these falls are.

Swim in Devil’s Pool

On the edge of Victoria Falls, at 108m high, is the Devil’s Pool. This incredible, natural rock pool attracts tourists as well as locals; and during the dry season, between mid-August and mid-January, the pool is open for daredevils to swim in safely.

How is it safe? Well, the natural rock wall at the edge of the waterfall acts as a barrier. There are also experienced guides present to maximise safety and brief you on where it is safe to jump into the pool.

This thrilling experience provides amazing views and a unique way to experience the falls. You’ll feel the force of the Zambezi flowing past and, of course, you can bathe in the Devil’s Pool at the edge of one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Shop at a Market in Livingstone

Whilst on your Zambia holiday, you should make it a must-do to shop at a market in Livingstone. This is the best way to soak up the culture plus you can haggle for some treasures.

Maramba Market is the largest in Livingstone and sells everything, from fresh fruit and vegetables to pots and pans made out of old motorcars. The people of Livingstone love it at this vibrant market and you will too. It will be an experience you’ll never forget.

Explore Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park

Africa practically invented the safari holiday so it’s no surprise that the game viewing is truly magnificent across the continent, but Zambia’s Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is able to offer an experience like no other.

The heritage park in Livingstone is home to one half of Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River and boasts elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and various antelope species. However, that’s not all. Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park offers the only opportunity to see white rhino in Zambia. Now that’s a sight definitely worth seeing.
